SOCIAL anxiety is used to describe anxiety that occurs in response to social situations, whether you are in the situation or thinking about the situation. Many of us feel anxious about some social situations, speaking on stage for example. For some, however, it is an intense and longstanding fear of social situations which often results in the person avoiding the situation at all cost. Worried about being awkward, a person may anticipate humiliation, embarrassment, or criticism from others, and chose isolate themselves
